Search Casey County Court Records
Casey County does not run a separate county case-search portal. Trial-court access is split among the KCOJ Docket Information page, registered KYeCourts and CourtNet access, direct requests to the Casey County Circuit Court Clerk, and the records-facility path described by the Kentucky Court of Justice records request page. The docket tool is public and useful for court dates. It is not the full case file.
Start with the court type. Circuit Court handles felonies, higher-value civil matters, divorces, adoptions, contested probate, title disputes, injunctions, writs, and appeals from District Court. District Court handles traffic, misdemeanors, violations, ordinances, probate of wills, arraignments, felony probable-cause hearings, small claims, lower-value civil cases, mental-health commitments, and domestic violence matters. The Circuit Court Clerk is the record custodian for those trial-court files in Casey County.
- Open the KCOJ docket page and select Casey County from the county field.
- Choose Circuit for Circuit or Family-level matters, or District for traffic, misdemeanor, probate, small claims, and similar cases.

The public docket search exposes a small but useful field set. Static inspection found Casey listed as CASEY with code 0231. The page also displays a warning that the search result is not an official docket and is subject to change. That warning matters for Casey County court records because a hearing may move after the online page refreshes.

Types of Casey County Court Records
Casey County court records come from the Kentucky court that heard the matter. Criminal records may include citations, complaints, indictments, bond orders, arraignment entries, pleas, motions, orders, dispositions, sentences, probation terms, and fines or costs.
Family, probate, traffic, and juvenile files have tighter access rules. Divorce and adoption matters can be in Circuit or Family Court. Probate of wills is a District Court function, while contested probate can move to Circuit Court. Traffic cases are District Court matters, though license consequences live with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet rather than in the court file itself.

What Casey County Court Records Show
A complete case file is broader than a public docket entry. Public static access did not expose a full Casey County case-detail page without login, so the safest record inventory comes from KCOJ request instructions and the docket interface. A public docket may show schedule information, while the official file may include pleadings, motions, orders, evidence filed with the court, rulings, disposition, sentence, fines, costs, or probate orders.

The KCOJ remote court information page is relevant when a Casey County court record shows a remote or hybrid proceeding.
Remote-court notices should be verified with the clerk because the public record may show scheduling while access instructions change by case.
Public Access to Casey County Court Records
Kentucky public-record law supplies the background rule, but court records are requested through the court that holds them. KRS 61.870 defines public records and public agencies. KRS 61.871 states the policy favoring open inspection, and KRS 61.878 lists exemptions. KCOJ still directs Casey County trial-court record requests to the Circuit Court Clerk, not to a generic state agency.
Older files may not be on-site. KCOJ says the clerk can identify whether a file is held locally, at a records facility, at the State Records Center, with the Department for Libraries and Archives, or destroyed under retention rules. If a record is at the State Records Center, the requester needs case and file locator numbers from the clerk. Those stored records cannot be searched by name or Social Security number.

Restricted Casey County Court Records
Some Casey County court records are not ordinary public lookup material. Juvenile records are restricted under KRS 610.320. Adoption files are confidential. Mental-health proceedings involve medical and personal privacy. A docket may reveal that a hearing occurred without disclosing protected facts, minor names, protected addresses, medical details, or victim-identifying information.
Sealed and expunged criminal records need special care. KRS 431.073 covers qualifying conviction expungement, while KRS 431.076 covers certain non-conviction outcomes. Once expunged, a record should not be treated as available through normal public channels. Access may also be limited by court order, redaction rules, or case-specific confidentiality.
Casey County Court Record Requests

The clerk can explain whether the file is public, sealed, stored, destroyed, or available only as an uncertified copy.
